I believe
it is not spring
that carries renewal,
enlightenment or
realization.
Nor is it the green of new shoots
springing from the warm earth
that prompt in me new beginnings,
freshness and
awakening.
Bring me the crisp curtain of cold
to take my breath briskly away
and cover everything that I see
in a pristine blanket of white.
Place before me a deer,
a cardinal,
a white-tailed rabbit...
or better yet our dog Lacey
making snow angels as I
watch and smile,
fingers numb in the frigidness,
nose red with cold and
eyes watering from the winter wind.
It is not spring
that speaks to me of renewal
and awakening,
new beginnings and
realizations.
It is the snow and the cold.
Winter.
It is the deep blankets of white
that will give me
peace and hope.

Winter Girl enters the modern world...I hope!
My first blog entry!
For years I kept journals and diaries and lately I've been thinking about how much I miss sitting down and WRITING about what happens or doesn't happen during the course of a day.
I must admit, I have spent the summer reading the dozen or more journals of a favorite author, May Sarton, and it has compelled me to spend roughly 45 minutes this morning trying to figure out how to find my way around the blogging page. This is a test more or less because until I hit the "Publish" icon, I guess I won't know if I'm doing it right or not!
So. In order to see just how this looks on a page, I am going to keep this short and hit that intimidating orange square above that says "Publish" and see what I end up with. I hope to be back. If this proves too stressful, the complete opposite of my intention, I guess I'll just have to go back to emailing.
Those who know me know just how inept I am with modern technology and this is a HUGE step for me!
Wish me luck. I hope to to be back!
